Fulford Fund Raiser – October 29th 2006

Fulford Fund Raiser

The grand total of £600 has been raised in a charity snooker tournament in memory of Paul Hunter.

The event was held on Sunday October 29 at Fulford Conservative Club in Fulford Road, York and organised by bar steward Derek Reid and games organiser Brian Smith.

The money raised has been donated to the NET Patient Foundation and the
Kirkwood Hospice.

Over 80 people attended the special tournament to either watch or play.

Players paid £3 to enter the tournament as part of two teams – Dex’s Midnight Runners versus the Fulford Conservative Club – and then supported the fund raising buying tickets for a raffle of 50 fabulous prizes.

Mr Reid said he now hoped the tournament would become an annual event as they now bought a prize trophy and named it the Paul Hunter Challenge Cup.

The overall winner of the tournament – Mr R Bell – received a top class cue donated by Kippax Craftmen’s Cues.

Mr Reid said ‘We were going to hold a knock out event when we heard about the tragic news of Paul Hunter and so decided to raise some money at the same time in his memory.

‘It was a fantastic day, very moving and was an opportunity for people to pay their respect’s to Paul. People came out to support the event because of him.’

Everyone at the NET Patient Foundation wishes to express their sincere thanks to the fund-raisers responsible for organising the event. The money donated to us will help to improve awareness about neuroendocrine tumours, the condition that Paul Hunter suffered from.
