Leeds Half Marathon – May 13th 2007

Ryan Thompson, 21, from Huddersfield ran his first half marathon in Leeds on May 13 to raise funds for the NET Patient Foundation. He completed the race in
1:45:25, a personal best for that distance.

He said afterwards ‘I put the success down to pre-race breakfast of 4 Weetabix, a banana, and support from fellow runners and spectators lining the streets of Leeds!’

Ryan is a statistical analyst at the Department of Health in Leeds and his target was to complete the race in under two hours. He now has ambitions to take part in the Greath North Run – so do support him, he is doing great work.

‘I decided to raise money for the charity as a family member was a very close friend of Paul Hunter.

Ryan Thompson ,21 from Hudderdfield.

‘It is also about raising further awareness of the illness and the charity of which I’m sure many people had not heard of before last year’s events.’

Ryan adds ‘I met Paul on a few occasions and have to say he was a talented and remarkable man both on and off the table and never let life get in his way.’

You can still support Ryan by making a donation through his Just Giving Page.

Our second runner in the Leeds Half Marathon was Robert Hudson who had raised over £100 before he even put on his running shoes. He said ‘I did fairly well and better than I expected as I did not train very well for it. I did it in one hour 45 minutes roughly and I will find out my exact time when the results are posted on the Leeds City Council website.’

Congratulations and sincere thanks to both Ryan and Robert from the NET Patient Foundation team.
